Day 14-Mount Monserrate

We had an amazing day today!  We met up with a teacher that John used to teach with at his school.  This teacher (John as well) took an assignment in Bogota a little over 1 year ago to teach kids in Colombia.  John, the kids and I met up with John and his wife and we headed to Mount Monserrate.  Monserrate is a mountain that dominates the city center of Bogotá. It rises to 3,152 metres (10,341 ft) above the sea level, where there is a church (built in the 17th century) with a shrine, devoted to "El Señor Caído" (Fallen Lord).  We took a train up to the top but it was a train the was glass and not a train you would see in the US.  It litterally went straight up the mountain.  The views were amazing but you prayed it would not fail on the way up.

We were able to see the church as well as the views of the city.  It was truly an experience to be able to see just how big the city of Bogota really is!  Mass was just beginning when we arrived.

After our adventure to Mount Monserrate we headed to our friends apartment.  He bought the NFL package so John was able to get his football fix and watch the Broncos.  We ordered Papa John's pizza!  It was pretty good going down but not so good an 1 hour later!

We are just getting the kids to bed now so we will post pictures of our adventure tomorrow.  Tomorrow is a holiday in Colombia-All Saints Day- so not much will be open.  We are planning to hang out around the hotel tomorrow.  We are hoping Tuesday will bring the judges back to work!
